Elm Creek is a village in Buffalo County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Kearney, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 894 at the 2000 census.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 894 people, 363 households, and 231 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,290.6 people per square mile (500.3/km²). There were 387 housing units at an average density of 558.7 per square mile (216.6/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.54% White, 0.11% Native American, 1.45% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.02% of the population.

There were 363 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.1% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.14.

In the village the population was spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
